So, after a month and a bit (ok closer to 2 months) of a fair amount of naval (and that’s a belly button not the guys in the white uniforms) I’ve finally decided to knuckle down and get to work on my new business venture. Don’t get me wrong, I most certainly have been giving Backspace Consulting a fair amount of thinking time but it’s still a swirl of ideas and possibilities and now that it comes down to it it’s time to really define what it is I’m going to be doing.
So what am I going to be doing? What is Backspace Consulting all about? Perhaps if I put down what it is I’m passionate about that will make it all clearer.
I’m passionate about taking the spark of an idea and seeing it through the entire process until I have a finished product to look back on and smile. Or, more often than not, look back at and go “ok, so now how do we make this even better?”. The products I’m refering to are those that people use online and on their mobile phones. They’re the products that people interact with and conversely allow a company to interact back with their customers. It’s the space between that I love to bridge. This is the space of possibility and creativity. It’s a space for play and creation and the best bit is that it’s constantly changing.
Change, that good old frustrating friend. The mostly unpredictable whims of technology and the “next big thing” (which doesn’t really exist by the way) make this open waters; the home of both treasure and sharks.
Better stop there before I get too poetic and lose you all.
If all that above describes what I’m passionate about then perhaps you’ll see what Backspace Consulting is really good at: taking the spark of an idea and nuturing it to fulfilment. This will include assesment of current services, evaluation of market propencity to interact and encouraging customers to see both the pitfalls and prizes in making decisions about their online services.
Damn, still sounds a little wishy washy. I shall continue to work on it.
